Your Nashville Postpartum Doula
Bringing a newborn home truly is equal parts exhaustion and overwhelm, mixed with pure joy and unconditional love. We want you to cherish every minute!
You have been preparing to welcome your new baby since the moment you found out you were pregnant.
It is time to start creating unforgettable experiences that will leave you with picture-perfect memories to last a lifetime. However, like most new parents, you may not have considered just how difficult it will be to balance the physical and emotional healing after giving birth with the crazy, on-demand schedule of a newborn.
At Southern Doula Services, we are here to support you by tailoring care to meet your unique needs and challenges. Our 3 main priorities are:
#1 > Rest & recovery for the new mom.
You just birthed a baby and your body needs time to recover. Your doula is there to focus on YOU. Whether that means a listening ear, a calming presence, or a healthy snack, your doula will make sure your recovery is a top priority.
#2 > Your newborn's adjustment to life outside the womb.
We know babies and will help answer all your questions as you get to know yours. You will be able to spend more time bonding and less time researching as we bring all the evidence-based information to you.
Anything that gets in the way of #1 and #2!
Life happens, and new parenthood is just as unpredictable as birth! We make sure your daily life & household needs don't keep you from what's most important - you & baby.
Partnering with Southern Doula Services for postpartum support is one of the best decisions you can make for you and your growing family.
FAQ's about working with Southern Doula Services
The first priority of your doula will always be mom's recovery. After birth, the focus often shifts to the newborn baby; but your doula is there to make sure your needs are being addressed. She will check in to see how you are feeling, answer any questions about baby care, lactation support, and postpartum recovery, and then work with you to prioritize what needs to be done. Sometimes the majority of the time is spent in meaningful conversation. I have had clients tell me that their doula was the first adult conversation they have had all day. Other times, self-care is the priority so your doula can attend to your baby while you nap, shower, read, rest, or do whatever helps you feel recharged. Your doula can also help with household chores such as laundry, dishes, bottle prep/sanitizing.
